The first quarter of 2024 saw interesting trends in the performance of the top 5 social networking apps in Uruguay, according to Sensor Tower data.

Threads from Instagram, Inc. experienced a mixed quarter. Weekly downloads peaked at around 23K in mid-January but saw a decline towards the end of the quarter, dropping to approximately 10K. Active users, however, showed a generally positive trend, starting at 135K and ending the quarter at 218K.

WhatsApp Messenger from WhatsApp Inc. maintained a consistent performance in terms of active users, hovering around 2.4M throughout the quarter. Weekly downloads varied, peaking at about 15K in early January before dipping to around 8.7K by the end of March. Revenue remained stable, averaging around $20 per week.

Facebook by Meta Platforms, Inc. showed steady weekly download numbers, with a significant spike to 18K in early March. Active users remained stable, averaging around 1.7M. Revenue saw a notable increase in the week of March 11, reaching $632.

Telegram Messenger from Telegram FZ-LLC experienced growth in revenue, peaking at $586 in mid-February. Weekly downloads remained relatively stable, ranging between 5K and 6.6K. Active users also showed consistency, maintaining around 208K throughout the quarter.

Plato: Fun Multiplayer Games by Plato Team Inc saw fluctuating weekly downloads, with a peak of 4K in mid-March. Active users remained around 30K, with a slight uptick to 31K towards the end of the quarter. Revenue showed a varied trend, peaking at $684 in early January.
